(2) Create a Payment account

The first time you click on MyFinance, you will be asked to set up your account. You will need to input your full name and billing address. You will also need to create your PIN number to add an additional layer of security to your account. Please selecte and then answer 3 different security questions. These will be used to verify your identity should you lose your password or have a dispute over your account.

A payment account allows you to purchase italki credits also known as ITC.

What are ITC?

italki Credits (ITC) are a virtual currency that are purchased from italki.com. italki Credits are used to pay for foreign language tutoring services rendered on italki.com. In the future, ITCs may also be used to pay for other products and services offered through italki.

Teachers on italki are paid in italki credits (ITC). Teachers set their own hourly teaching rates, which you can view on the language teachers page. When a lesson is successfully completed, italki credits are transferred to the teacher's account. There is a fixed exchange rate between italki credits and US Dollars.

Different Purchase options

Paypal: Paypal.com is owned by Ebay.com, and is a popular form of online payment system in the US and many other parts of the world. In order to open a paypal account you will need a credit card or a linked bank account. If you use a linked bank account, it may take you 3-5 days for Payal to authenticate your account.

Alipay: alipay.com is owned by alibaba.com, and is a popular form of online payment system in China.

Credit Card (Visa and Mastercard): Credit cards can be used to pay for italki credits. italki works with a payment partner called Global Collect which handles the credit card authorization. Global Collect is one of the largest online credit card transaction processing companies in the world, and is a trusted name in ecommerce. Your credit card information will not be stored with italki. Credit card payments are available only in selected countries.

Transaction Fees

It is important to note that buying italki credits, italki's payment partners will charge a processing fee. This fee is generally between 0.5% and 3%, and will depend on which service is used, and the specific terms of the country and company.
