Receiving feedback from students is a crucial part of the italki teaching platform. This is how talented teachers can develop a reputation for quality teaching.

Understanding the Teacher Ratings

As teachers teach students, it is crucial that students leave feedback for the teachers.

Overall - This rating is an average of the other ratings and then averaged out by the site. This seems complex, but the basis is that more ratings = higher confidence the ratings are true.
Professional - Was the teacher on time? Was the teacher prepared for the lesson? This is an objective measure.
Knowledgeable - Was the teacher in command of the subject? Is the teacher competent? This is an objective measure.
Helpful - Was the teacher helpful? Did the students feel that they learned a lot? This is a subjective measure by the student.

italki Service Fee: 15%

italki charges a 15% service fee.

Withdrawing money from your teaching account

Now that you have italki credits (ITCs), you will want to withdraw them from italki.

Teachers can withdraw italki credits (ITCs) from their accounts at any time with no service charge from italki, once they have reached at least $30 USD (300 ITC). A teacher may withdraw italki credits (ITCs) from their account if the balance is less than $30 USD (300 ITC), but this will incur a $5 USD service charge

italki will transfer your italki credits using either Paypal or Alipay. You must create an account with Paypal or Alipay to use these options. If neither of these options work for you, please contact us to arrange other methods.

Payment Options

Paypal: Paypal.com is owned by Ebay.com, and is a popular form of online payment system in the US and many other parts of the world. In order to open a paypal account you will need a credit card or a linked bank account. If you use a linked bank account, it may take you 3-5 days for Payal to authenticate your account.

Alipay: Alipay is owned by alibaba.com, and is a popular form of online payment system in China.

Paypal and Alipay will charge their own transaction fees.

italki recommendations
Make fewer withdrawals of larger sums of money. Each withdrawal may incur transaction fees from our payment partners. We therefore recommend doing fewer withdrawals of larger sums of money. italki will continue to look for more ways to economically transfer funds to teachers.
