How do I create an italki MyFinance account?

The first time you click on MyFinance, you will be asked to complete your account setup. You will need to input your full name and billing address. You will also need to create another password to add an additional layer of security to your account. Please selected and then answer 3 different security questions. These will used to verify your identity should you lose your password or have a dispute over your account.

What are italki Credits (ITC)?

italki Credits (ITC) are a virtual currency that are purchased from italki.com at a rate of $1 = 10 ITC. italki Credits are used to pay for foreign language teaching services offered through italki by 3rd party service providers. In the future, ITCs may also be used to pay for other products and services offered through italki.

Will my ITC's expire?

Your ITC's will not expire as long as you are an active member of italki. ITC's will be valid for six months after your most recent login date. If you do not login at least one time in six months, then your ITC's will expire and be deleted from your account. A reminder is sent out if a member has not logged in within the past 5 months that their ITC's will expire in one month if they do not take action.

How do I cancel my account?

Your italki MyFinance account remains active as long as you're a member of italki. As we do not engage in a "rebilling" practice, we will never process any fees or purchases on your credit card without your permission.

What if I have forgotten my italki MyFinance password?

It happens to everybody - we all forget things! This is why you answered the security questions when you created your account. We will use these to verify your identity before resetting your password.

Does italki.com share information about me with third parties?

italki provides information about you to others under the following circumstances: Credit Card Authorization and Fraud Screening Services: If you use a credit card to purchase italki Credits, depending upon the purchase method, fraud verification services established by our payment processors will be invoked to validate your credit card purchase. These are standard procedures that occur in conjunction with every Internet transaction regardless of the service being bought or sold. Agencies or Authorities with Whom we are Legally Required to Cooperate: italki may disclose personal information to the proper authorities during the investigation of fraud or illegal activity as mandated by international law.

How does italki.com safeguard my personal and financial information?

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.

  • italki does not ask for, collect, or store any of your financial information.
  • Payment information is handled on our payment processing partners' websites.

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.
